DESCRIPTION
A ball valve is a quarter-turn valve that controls the flow of a fluid (typically water, oil, or gas) via a pipe or pipeline using a hollow, perforated, rotating ball. When the valve is in the open position, the hole in the middle of the ball aligns with the flow route, enabling fluid to pass through. When the valve is closed, the ball rotates 90 degrees, obstructing the flow route and halting fluid passage.
